High Speed Scanners - Which one??

High speed scanners have options that vary greatly. Determine what your needs are. Make a list. Let's say that again, determine what your needs are.

If you need color, that is a critical item to add to the list. If you need a flat bed that is another criteria on your list. Please beware that high speed and flatbed scanners do not mix (see the note below).

Determine what are the general sizes of your documents?? Very few scanners can scan larger than 8.5 x14" paper. Some can scan 11x17" paper through the ADF, but not many.

Determine if your documents are single sided or double sided (printing on both sides of page) or mixed. If the are double sided or mixed, then you will want a "duplex" scanner.

You may have software that requires a certain type of scanner so be sure to check your software requirements.

Determine if you need higher quality scans, or are going to need special processing such as bar codes or patch codes. If you do then you will probably need a scanner with a video card interface.

Very few of these type of scanners have flatbed capabilities, which yields a lower number of scans per minute, the ADF must rest above the flatbed, thus limiting the document scanner's ability to scan at higher speeds.
