The Kodak i5250 FADGI scanner

Streamlined, 3-star compliant bundles from Kodak Alaris

Starting of July 1, 2024, all records submitted to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and Library of Congress for permanent archive must be at least 3-star compliant with the Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative (FADGI). These government agencies will no longer accept paper records. Only digital records will be accepted, and these digital files must meet FADGI 3-star guidelines for text-based documents.

These scanners deliver the specific image quality output set forth in the FADGI guidelines, so you can be assured that all digital submissions to NARA, the Library of Congress, or any future agency, will comply with these requirements.

The Kodak FADGI Compliance Solution

This solution is a complete package that takes the complexity out of FADGI compliance. The solution includes professional installation, training and configuration services, and extended maintenance services to ensure compliance over the life of the product.

FADGI Mode versus Standard (Non-FADGI) Mode

The i5250 / i5850 FADGI-compliant scanners can switch between FADGI and Standard (Non-FADGI) mode with the press of a button on the scanner front control panel.

  • FADGI mode – scanner operation optimized for FADGI image processing and scanning in portrait mode, in color mode only (does not support black/white mode).
  • Standard (Non-FADGI) mode – scanner operation at full speed for standard document scanning projects.
  • Software is required to operate the scanner in non-FADGI mode and is NOT included with purchase.
