Slash handling time and verify voter signatures with an automated solution from Kodak
Working closely with experienced partners, Kodak Alaris created a comprehensive, automated solution to scan both sides of each ballot envelope, verify the voter signature, and imprint a date/time stamp (with batch number and sequence information) on every envelope.
The Kodak S3000 and i4000 series scanners work with the Mail-In Ballot Solution.
Automation Solves Multiple Issues
A typical elections office worker can process about 50 ballot envelopes
per hour. With the Automated Mail-In Ballot Verification Solution from Kodak Alaris, that same worker can scan and process up to 1,000 ballots
per hour. That’s a 20 fold increase in productivity.
Through automation, elections workers no longer have to manually sort and inspect each envelope and its signature before the actual ballot is scanned into the voter registration system. The results include greater efficiency, reduced staff hours, cost savings, and enhanced security.

How the Kodak Mail-in Ballot Processing Solution Works:
Ballots received via mail are fed into a KODAK S3000, S3000 Max, or i4000 Series Scanner, which scans both sides of each ballot envelope and imprints a date & time stamp with sequence information.
The Vote By Mail software automatically captures the signature on the envelope and compares it to the record in the Voter Registration Database. A comparison score is generated.
Based on the comparison score, the signature is either validated or flagged for further manual validation.
Validated signature and ballot information is automatically exported to the Election Management Software.
It’s important to note that this solution does not open the envelope or record a vote into the voter registration system.
