FADGI Compliant Scanners
We carry a complete line of FADGI Compliant Scanners for your document imaging needs. From such well know industry names like Canon, Fujitsu, and Kodak. These scanners are not the ones you buy at the local office store. They are reconfigured to meet NARA's FADGI 3 Star or 4 Star guidelines for scanning and archival purposes.
If you are scanning to MTR (Modern Text Records -printed on paper made after 1950) then you can scan with a 3 star compliant setup on the scanner. If you are scanning to a MFR (Master File Record -for Archival purposes) then you need to scan with a 4 star compliant scanner. 3 Star compliant scanners typically use CIS quality camera arrays. 4 Star scanners need the higher quality CCD camera arrays to achieve the 4 star compliance rating.
You must scan the FADGI calibration target with a special FADGI software that reports whether or not the scanner meets the 3 star or 4 star FADGI level before scanning any documents. You will then submit the report along with your digital images.
Ricoh will provide a calibration target, but not the FADGI software to certify their scanner. Kodak will provide BOTH the target and the software while installing and certifying the scanner. Canon provides neither. Both Ricoh and Canon will certify the scanner upon installation, with their software. You will need to purchase FADGI software to continually certify the scanned batches.
